Elim Care Valley View Village broke ground Wednesday, April 30 on a $12 million Health Care campus expansion.
The celebration marks the beginning of Phase 2 for the continuum campus at Valley View. This phase will encompass a new health center that will feature 79 private rooms and private bathrooms, an area for memory care, dementia, transitional care patients as well as a therapy and state of the art rehabilitation gym. This project looks to be completed by Summer of 2015.
The Valley View Village is a senior community previously owned by Evangelical Retirement Homes and recently acquired by Elim Care, Inc. The current campus located in Des Moines, Iowa, includes a 79-bed skilled nursing facility and a 77-bed custodial care, 75 cottages for independent seniors, and a 30-unit three-level independent living apartment building built over underground parking.
Phase I of the masterplan was a 54 unit assisted living project attached to the existing care center that was opened in 2010. Plans for a third phase to expand Valley View Village’s memory care and catered apartments in the current assisted living building will begin following completion of the new health center.
Pope Architects has been partnering with Elim Care to reposition the existing institutional campus into a vibrant new continuing care retirement community since early 2009. When all completed the designed to serve the senior residents of the Des Moines area with state-of-the-art, residential surroundings and services for decades to come.
