Memorial Blood Centers Duluth Celebrates Grand Opening

Thursday, May 23rd, 2024

Congratulations to Memorial Blood Centers on the grand opening of their new state-of-the-art donor center in Duluth this week! The event was attended by many special guests, including current and past Mayors of Duluth, a blood donor and the eight-year-old leukemia patient who directly benefited from his blood donations.

Memorial Blood Centers is one of the largest community-based, non-profit blood collection and distribution organizations in the United States. The Duluth location had outgrown its existing space and the organization partnered with Pope Design Group to create a new donor center in a completely refurbished building at 14 East Central Entrance. The new center is double the size, accommodating up to 10 donors at once, and brings the availability of platelet donations to this area for the first time.

“Our goal with the design of the new clinic was to create a welcoming environment where donors feel comfortable, and staff feel supported. The design thoughtfully incorporates branding elements and amenity details like a fireplace to make the space more inviting for donors. The flow is more efficient for staff and additional features like a wellness room and spacious break room contribute to a more supportive work environment,” said Lauri Brachmann, Interior Designer at Pope Design Group.
